Thank you for taking a moment to visit Burton Guidry's campaign web site. Mr. Guidry firmly believes that experience is the greatest qualification and character trait that a candidate for judge to have. With experience comes knowledge of both people and the law, and this knowledge and experience is how he plans to best serve the people of the 15th Judicial District as judge.


Mr. Guidry has 33 years of legal experience as an attorney at various levels, including Assistant City Prosecutor and Parish Attorney. In addition, he has served as legal advisor for the State of Louisiana and a number of agencies and officials, including former Governor Kathleen Blanco and Governor Edwin W. Edwards. 

Mr. Guidry is a member of the Lafayette, Acadia and Vermilion Bar Associations. He has also served on several committees of the Louisiana State Bar Association. In addition, he has published a number of legal articles, has lectured at UL, LSU and Southern University Law Center on various subjects, including professionalism, legal procedure and entertainment law and has tried over 150 jury trials and thousands of cases throughout his career.


Mr. Guidry has both extensive civil and criminal experience as prosecutor and defense attorney, plaintiff and civil defense lawyer and has advised both the legislative and executive branches of government at all levels.
